At Jom Serve, our heart is in serving refugees in Malaysia with compassion and respect.
We believe that every individual is made in the image of God, no matter where you are from and what brought you here. Our mission is to come alongside refugees to help them transform into thriving individuals, families, and communities.
Jom Serve has been providing support and advocacy for refugees for many years. It began by building deep friendships with refugees and migrant workers alike, which led to the creation of Nations Learning Centre in Penang. Through many volunteers and countless hours, significant trust was built and allowed our team to grow and opportunities to expand.
During Covid lockdowns and the slow recovery afterwards, Jom Serve supported refugees who had lost employment and the means to care for daily essentials. We partnered with other NGOs and the local government to provide weekly deliveries into communities where there was need.
After the pandemic, Jom Serve’s support for refugee women and children increased significantly. Through the creation of community groups for women, prenatal classes, pregnancy support and friendship, refugees were equipped and supported to flourish in holistic ways. In addition we provided education support to refugee learning centres.
In 2025 Jom Serve started to work in Kuala Lumpur. The ethos behind our work has not changed and Jom Serve remains committed to coming alongside refugees to recognise their inherent strength and serve them in a holistic way.
